About
the Artist

Micat is a Filipina abstract watercolour painter in pursuit of raising collective consciousness on Earth by transmitting images from the subconscious. Her work is deeply intertwined with her spiritual life, ancestral lineage, and experiences as a woman in a country experiencing intense oppression, patriarchy, and a long history of colonialism.

Her latest inquiries involve the purpose of life on earth, extra-sensory capabilities of humans, achieving balance in a damaged world. Her imagery comes from dreams, visions, and patterns in the natural world that connect us to universal life forces.
She uses automatic painting- the practise of creating freely using only the subconscious mind- to cultivate intuition, which she believes is a key pathway to higher consciousness. To her, it is a way to nurture acceptance and boundless curiosity as opposed to the confines of the thinking mind.

She pulls concepts from Buddhism, Jungian psychology, psychedelic rock, and most notably indigenous wisdom rooted in reverence of nature and interconnectedness of all beings to guide her practise.

Micat strives for a harmonious world where humans fully realise our oneness with Mother Earth. Her ephemeral forms are a channel to realms beyond, honouring the impermanence of mortality and the mystery of creation.
